WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEK…

The week started off with what many of you might call bad weather. Well, from a photographer’s perspective this is considered perfect. Yeah, I get it, it’s maybe just my point of view. I’m quite into rain and puddles and drops and all that stuff. That’s why I was super happy with the rainy Sunday afternoon and decided to roam the city for an hour, creating some #puddlegrams. On Monday there wasn’t much time for photography as of meetings and a blogger event by Nespresso at Heuer am Karlsplatz.

The early Tuesday evening finally brought the reunion with @meg_inthesky, a Brazilian instagramer who I got to know two years ago during her semester abroad. Now she’s back in the city for a few days! Besides welcome drinks and welcome burgers (yes, that’s a thing now!) I was able to shoot a few pictures of the gorgeous sky this evening. The next opportunity for pictures revealed itself just a day later, as fellow instagramer and always-very-yellow-dressed-guy @theyellowguyproject called me with the idea of an early pre-work-photowalk on Thursday morning. I was all-in and we had the chance to take pictures in Stadtpark and first district at (late) golden hour. We also made it down to the tunnel of Wienfluss at Stadtpark to finally shoot a picture Philipp had in mind for a long time now.

The last photographic adventure of the week came up just hours later, as I joined an instawalk hosted by our beloved @igersvienna – as Kady was in charge, I was able to enjoy the instawalk more or less from an outsider’s position. We started at KUNST HAUS WIEN, who are currently showcasing Edward Burtynsky’s very impressive WASSER exhibition, so it was all about water. That perfectly matched with the next stop of our instawalk, Vienna’s harbour. It was great to join all of you guys, making new friends and seeing some old ones again! <3

For the weekend I travelled to my old home town, a very small city called Laa an der Thaya, in the north of Lower Austria. It has been all about visiting my parents and a lot of friends I haven’t seen in a while!

Every week I’ll select one image I like the most out of all images shot in the given week. I’ll try to explain the circumstances of the photograph and what makes it special to me.

Bonbons. That’s a #basicgermanword for sweets. In fact, that facade is one of the most instagrammed places in Vienna besides the obvious sights. One might even call it insta-famous. I somehow never came around taking a good picture of it, as I’m not into that facade kind of thing. With the puddle across the street, I saw an opportunity for a shot that is quite mandatory for a Viennese instagrammer that would suit my style as well. The new perspective is topped off with the girl in the red top, which creates an additional point of interest. My image of the week!
